He helped architect AI-driven patient communications across SMS, phone, and email, led EMPI and personalization initiatives, and created Kroger's Enterprise AI Driver's License program to enable responsible AI adoption by corporate associates.
At Walgreens Boots Alliance, he led teams supporting a national COVID response platform that handled peak booking demand at enterprise scale. His work included Azure and Kubernetes architecture, pharmacy and retail integrations to IC Plus POS, and reliability programs that reduced CPU allocation by more than 65 percent while preserving uptime.
As founder and Director of Technology at Pymt, Matthew built a full retail POS and payments platform used by more than 3,500 merchants across the United States and Canada before a successful exit. He led architecture for online and in-person commerce, designed merchant APIs, and operated in PCI-regulated environments with secure access and data patterns.
Earlier at UAB Medicine, Matthew led software architecture and engineering teams in one of the largest academic medical environments in the country. His work included Cerner and Oracle Health integrations, patient messaging, digital consent, analytics and reporting systems, and an award-winning 340B reconciliation platform. He is also the author of The Year of Corporate Software, with a second book in development focused on enterprise OpenClaw and local LLM systems.
